Do you know a woman achieving success and blazing trails in radio in Canada? Honour her contributions by nominating her for the prestigious Rosalie Award . which is presented at the Gala Awards held at Canadian Music Week.

The award recognizes Canadian women who have blazed new trails in radio. Rosalie Award recipients are women who have had successful careers in the radio industry and are seen as leaders, mentors, and people making a difference in our business.

Rosalie Award winners are selected based on 5 key criteria:

The Rosalie Award is named in honour of Rosalie Trombley, renowned Music Director at Top 40 powerhouse CKLW-AM “The Big 8” in Windsor-Detroit. Her success and influence during those early years of women in radio inspired the Rosalie Award and she became the first recipient in 2005. The 2018 Rosalie Award Winner is Maureen Holloway!

The 2018 recipient of the The Rosalie Award is Maureen Holloway, Radio Personality, CHFI FM

Maureen Holloway is a fan favourite on the Toronto radio scene. After longtime stints at CKFM/Mix 99.9, then Q107, she is now one half of Darren and Mo , the top rated morning show heard every day on landmark station 98.1 CHFI. Maureen is also familiar to listeners across the country as host of the popular entertainment feature The Last Word , now rebranded as Other’s People’s Business . Throughout her long and varied career on radio and television, Mo has received several honours, including a Gemini nomination for The Dish Show , the 2009 HOPE Award, and the Canadian Association of Broadcaster’s Gold Ribbon Award for Humour. Diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer in 2005, she is an outspoken advocate for women’s health issues, and is in frequent demand as a lecturer and keynote speaker, where her topics encompass women, humour and wellness. She is also cancer free. Maureen lives in Toronto’s west end with her husband John, her sons Aidan and Ronan, and her dogs Asta and Dewey. She plays golf and piano, both rather badly, and loves to cook, travel, laugh and drink wine, sometimes all at once.

We have the pleasure of introducing the newest member of our Radio Trailblazers’ steering committee, Linda McErlain!

This media gal is a mother of 2 grown boys, a loyal and loving friend, change agent, mentor/coach, aspiring writer, fitness fan, golf flunky, cook, dog-loving optimist.

A few professional firsts …

  • 1 st place in Long Documentary category for CBS Telefest Awards, 1985 – Producer
  • Job out of Radio Television Arts @ Ryerson as Gary Miles’ EA at the Radio Marketing Bureau.
  • female radio sales rep at CHFI, 1989
  • person to complete the Rogers Sales Manager’s Understudy Program, 2000
  • sales manager of The Fan590 for Rogers, 2002
  • sales manager to get 680News to the #billing radio station in the country, 2011
  • first female VP Sales for Rogers Radio, 2016

Linda launched her career at the Radio Marketing Bureau in 1985, first as Executive Assistant to the President and then Retail Product Manager.  Her first commissioned sales job was with Armadale Communications in Hamilton selling CKOC/CKLH.  Toronto came calling a little over a year later with a new sales role at Rogers for CHFI.  12 years and 2 kids later, she was promoted to General Sales Manager of the newly acquired (by Rogers) Fan 590.  After 3 years, she was promoted to GSM of 680News where the team scaled to number 1 in revenue.

In 2013 Rogers restructure Media Sales and Linda was appointed, VP Agency Lead under the new Rogers One Call banner.  More change came under a new CEO in 2014. Her next role was as VP Media Sales, Ontario until returning to Radio full time as VP Radio Sales in early 2016.
